Baltic Hub Officially Inaugurates Terminal T3

On June 6, 2025, Baltic Hub officially launched the operations of its new Terminal T3 in Gdańsk, marking a significant milestone in the development of Poland’s maritime economy and strengthening the country's position in the global supply chain. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of national and local authorities, as well as industry leaders, celebrating this major port investment in the Baltic Sea region.

Terminal T3, located on a 36-hectare site, is expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of 2025. With its launch, Baltic Hub’s annual handling capacity will increase from 3 to 4.5 million TEUs, placing the Port of Gdańsk among the largest container terminals in Europe. Key infrastructure includes a 717-meter quay with a depth of 17.5 meters, enabling the terminal to accommodate the world’s largest container vessels.

T3 will be equipped with state-of-the-art electrified equipment that will not only boost operational efficiency but also reduce the terminal’s environmental footprint. The equipment includes 20 automated Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes and seven semi-automated Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes - among the tallest of their kind in Europe - capable of handling vessels with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs and more. The terminal has already commenced initial handling operations as part of its commissioning phase, which is expected to conclude by October 2025.

The T3 project was designed and executed with a wide range of eco-friendly solutions - from low-emission construction materials and the protection of marine habitats to the implementation of green technologies. All terminal equipment is powered by electricity backed by renewable energy origin guarantees, supporting Baltic Hub’s sustainability goals: reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

In 2024, Polish ports handled a record 3.3 million TEUs, representing a 10% increase over the previous year. Baltic Hub accounted for over 2.2 million TEUs of that total. The launch of T3 significantly enhances the trade capabilities of Poland and its neighboring countries, addressing the growing demand in the Central and Eastern European region. The new terminal will also strengthen intermodal connections between inland European markets and global shipping routes.

Today we celebrate the inauguration of T3 - one of the largest port investments in the Baltic Sea region. This event not only fuels the economic development of Pomerania and Poland but also strengthens our country's position as a strategic player in global trade. We remain committed to growth, innovation, and investment that will solidify Poland’s standing as a logistics powerhouse, working hand in hand with all partners and stakeholders to build one of Europe’s leading container terminal complexes - said Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub, during the ceremony.

The official opening of Terminal T3 marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter not just for Baltic Hub, but for the entire European trade landscape. At PSA, we believe ports are not isolated pieces of infrastructure but vital nodes in a larger ecosystem - and T3 is a tangible expression of this. It is another step forward in our ‘Node to Network’ strategy, transforming individual terminals into an intelligent, globally connected network that supports efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. With its strategic location, modern infrastructure, and growing intermodal network, Baltic Hub serves as a key link between the Baltic region and the rest of Europe and the world - added Ong Kim Pong, Group CEO of PSA International.

At PFR, we are proud to co-participate in this project, which shows that in partnership with global investors, we are capable of developing world-class infrastructure - right here in Poland. This modern container port strengthens the resilience of supply chains and opens access for Poland and the entire Central and Eastern European region to global markets on an unprecedented scale. But Baltic Hub is not just a gateway for trade. It will soon become part of the energy infrastructure, thus playing an important role in our country’s economic security - added Piotr Matczuk, CEO of PFR.

At IFM Investors, we are committed to projects with strong fundamentals, strategic importance, and real long-term growth potential. Baltic Hub perfectly aligns with our objectives - it is an investment grounded in a proven partnership and a strong team, playing a vital role in the development of Poland and the entire region. We are proud to bring our expertise to this endeavor and contribute to strengthening Poland’s position as a key link in both regional and global logistics networks - said Marcin A. Piasecki, Executive Director at IFM Investors and member of the Baltic Hub Supervisory Board.
