Girteka, Europe’s largest asset-based transport company, is accelerating its growth, with Poland playing an increasingly important role in the implementation of its ambitious plans. In the Polish market, Girteka focuses on expanding advanced road brokerage services and enhancing the efficiency of its largest transportation base located in Sady near Poznań.
Growth of Brokerage Services – from 5% to 25%
In January 2025, Girteka opened its brokerage division in Warsaw. The goal is to expand Girteka’s offering through efficient and reliable brokerage solutions and to extend it with additional transport capacity in cooperation with trusted carriers from Poland and across Europe.
Warsaw is our gateway to growth; here we are building a strong team of freight forwarders and business leaders. Qualified logistics experts and a fragmented market with a significant share of highly specialized carriers are, for us, ideal partners in delivering brokerage services and achieving our goals - says Angel Kalinov, Director of Brokerage at Girteka.
Currently, the share of brokerage services in the annual full truckload (FTL) transports carried out by Girteka Group is below 5%. The intended goal is to achieve an increase of up to 25%, accompanied by the expansion of the Warsaw team, with the number of employees expected to grow from the current 15 to approximately 100 specialists.
Girteka plans to achieve its goals by focusing on three key areas: expanding its service offering, strengthening partnership cooperation with carriers, and developing the Girteka Partners Portal. The development of brokerage services is intended to increase the company’s operational capacity, providing additional throughput during peak seasons and flexible capacity within spot services. Deliveries will be carried out in cooperation with carriers operating various types of trailers, from refrigerated and curtain-sided trailers to mega trailers for oversized cargo transport.
The priority for the brokerage division is the development of a diversified base of partners and the strengthening of long-term relationships, the basis of which is supporting carriers in optimizing costs, while maintaining the highest quality of services. Further investments will therefore be linked to the expansion of the dedicated platform for carriers – Girteka Partners Portal, launched in 2024, leveraging automation and AI. New functionalities are intended to further support Girteka’s partners in managing loads and transport documentation, as well as to increase operational efficiency. Girteka is already working on additional implementations, an example being the recently introduced QuickPay option, which accelerates payments.
Transportation Base in Sady - higher operational efficiency
Girteka’s transportation base in Sady near Poznań is one of the largest and most modern facilities of its kind within Girteka’s network and in the region. Since its launch, it has held strategic importance, serving as a technical service hub for Girteka’s own fleet and as one of the region’s leading driver training centers. The Girteka Drivers Academy stands out for the quality of its programs, the variety of courses offered, and the extensive training hours, making it one of the best in the region.
Now, three years after its opening, Girteka aims to increase its operational efficiency by focusing on process improvement and integrating modern management systems.
Our goal is to strengthen the position of a modern, disruption-resilient, and future-oriented transportation base, built on the integration of innovative technologies, strengthening of team competences, and sustainable practices - emphasizes Dmitrij Voitkevič, Director of Transport Operations in Poland.
By expanding the team, Girteka will strengthen it with technical positions related to fleet maintenance, including car technicians, maintenance technicians, tire fitters, warehouse workers, as well as car locksmiths welders, electricians, and car painters.
In the coming years, projects are planned to be completed that will ensure the long-term efficiency of the transportation base. The first of these is the implementation of the LEAN methodology, which is key to developing a culture of continuous improvement. The second will extend the integration of advanced SAP tools, including SuccessFactors for drivers, managers, HR, and the training center, as well as DriversGo, which digitalizes the entire driver work cycle – from candidate to retirement.
The development plans for the transportation base in Sady are also in line with Girteka’s strategy focused on operational excellence and fleet modernization. As a reminder, this year the Group secured financing of EUR 173 million from OP Corporate Bank to support the growth of a modern and sustainable fleet. In 2025–2026, it plans to purchase up to 8,000 trucks and trailers.
