PKP CARGO Transports Rails to Sweden

PKP CARGO is carrying out rail transports to Scandinavia on behalf of ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. Transporting rails from the steel mill in Dąbrowa Górnicza to Scandinavia presents a significant logistical challenge.

The first stage involves transporting the rails from Dąbrowa Górnicza to Świnoujście. The next stage is by sea, made possible thanks to a special rail ferry that allows wagons to board without unloading. After several hours at sea, the wagons arrive at the port of Ystad in Sweden.

Transporting rails to Sweden is an important step for us in rebuilding our presence in the Scandinavian markets and strengthening our position along the North-South transport corridor. The transports already completed demonstrate our operational capabilities and effectiveness in handling demanding assignments such as the transport of multi-meter-long rails. One of our main goals in the coming years is to expand international transport, including logistically complex routes toward Scandinavia. These ongoing rail shipments are proof that, together with our partners like ArcelorMittal Poland S.A., we are capable of successfully executing them. This would not be possible without the trust of our partners, and for that we thank ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. - said Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail, President of PKP CARGO S.A. (in restructuring).

Multimodal transport that includes rail freight is significantly safer and produces fewer emissions than road-only transport. Greenhouse gas emissions from rail freight are several times lower than those from road freight. It also generates a smaller carbon footprint and is one of the most ecological and efficient modes of transport.

The PKP CARGO Group is a rail freight operator offering comprehensive logistics services in Poland and the European Union, and it is consistently developing its sustainable transport offering.
