Solaris to Deliver Electric Buses to Wrocław

Solaris to Deliver Electric Buses to Wrocław MPK Wrocław

Solaris will supply seven electric buses along with charging infrastructure to the Municipal Public Transport Company (MPK) in Wrocław. By mid-next year, the manufacturer will deliver Solaris Urbino 12 electric models equipped with the latest modular drive technology to residents of the capital of Lower Silesia.

Solaris Bus & Coach submitted the best bid in the MPK Wrocław tender for the delivery of seven 12-meter electric buses. The Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses for Wrocław will be equipped with the latest modular drive technology. In practice, this means better vehicle performance and even greater comfort for passengers and drivers alike.

The vehicle batteries, with a capacity of over 350 kWh, will be mounted entirely on the roof. They will be chargeable both via a plug-in connector and a pantograph installed on the roof of the bus.

In addition to the bus delivery, scheduled for mid-2026, the manufacturer will also provide elements of the electric bus charging infrastructure. At the depot on Obornicka Street, the company will install mobile plug-in chargers with a capacity of 60 kW each, enabling the simultaneous overnight charging of seven buses.

I am extremely proud that Solaris, after a few years' break, is returning to Wrocław with its offer. Wrocław is one of the largest and most recognizable cities not only in Poland but also throughout Europe. I am convinced that the new zero-emission vehicles used by the municipal carrier will contribute to further improving the quality of life in this beautiful city - said Mateusz Figaszewski, representing Solaris at the contract signing.

Wrocław emphasizes the importance of investing in modern, eco-friendly fleets:

Solaris is a European leader in the design and production of electric buses. We are pleased that vehicles of this brand will once again appear on the streets of Wrocław, supporting our efforts for sustainable transport - said Renata Granowska, Deputy Mayor of Wrocław.

Since 2012, Solaris has delivered the highest number of zero-emission buses in Europe — nearly 3,500 vehicles to over 220 cities in 23 countries to date. Soon, Solaris vehicles will also be seen on the streets of Seattle, USA, and Vancouver, Canada.

It is worth recalling that in 2024 Solaris sold a total of 1,525 vehicles, representing a 4.7% increase compared to 2023. This success contributed to the CAF Group achieving revenues of 927 million euros, an increase of more than 13% compared to the previous year. Impressively, battery buses, hydrogen buses, trolleybuses, and hybrid vehicles made up a record-breaking 83% of total sales in 2024.
