New PESA GAMA 3.0 Locomotives to Be Delivered to Rail Capital Partners

On June 18, 2025, Rail Capital Partners and PESA signed an agreement for the delivery of five Gama 3.0 series 304 locomotives, scheduled for 2026. The contract will be executed and financed under the National Recovery Plan, specifically through the CUPT project KPOD.09.09-IW.02-0036/24 titled "Purchase of ten zero-emission modern electric locomotives for intermodal transport."

In the tender procedure, PESA offered RCP a four-axle electric locomotive from the new Gama 3.0 generation. The rolling stock pool will be the first customer to receive these latest locomotives from the Bydgoszcz-based manufacturer.

RCP is consistently expanding the number of vehicles in its fleet and has further orders in the pipeline. According to our strategy, we want modern, reliable, and environmentally friendly locomotives to run on Polish tracks — and these are exactly the kinds of vehicles we offer to our clients - said Ireneusz Kozłowski, President of Rail Capital Partners.

The selection of our offer by Rail Capital Partners is a particularly important moment for us. We have offered this rapidly growing rolling stock pool a locomotive from a new platform, developed based on previous operational experience and incorporating the latest technological solutions and market expectations. I am confident that the Gama 3.0 - ensuring safe, optimal, and user-friendly operation - will be well received by RCP’s customers - emphasized Piotr Rościszewski, Sales Director for Locomotives at PESA Bydgoszcz.

As a rolling stock pool, RCP is systematically increasing the number of locomotives leased to freight operators. The company currently operates 66 locomotives, of which 56 are Gama units manufactured by PESA. RCP’s clients include some of the largest freight rail operators on the Polish market.

Popular Locomotives

To date, PESA has delivered over 100 locomotives, with the Gama Marathon - featuring a last-mile module - proving especially popular among intermodal operators.

Building on operational experience and integrating the latest technological advances, the company has developed the new Gama 3.0 platform. It is a universal electric locomotive suitable for both freight and passenger transport. Depending on client needs, it can be equipped with an additional last-mile module or a dual-drive system combining electric and eco-diesel engines. The locomotive is designed with a strong emphasis on environmental protection, energy efficiency, and driver comfort.

PESA is also developing a platform for zero-emission shunting locomotives in various configurations, including battery-powered, hydrogen fuel cell + LTO battery, and pantograph + hydrogen fuel cell + battery systems, addressing the growing demand for green port and intermodal terminal operations.
