Solaris to Deliver 120 Articulated Buses to Warsaw

Solaris Bus & Coach has won the largest tender of 2025 issued by the Public Transport Authority (ZTM) in Warsaw. The manufacturer will supply 120 articulated diesel-powered buses. The purchase will modernise Warsaw’s fleet and replace the oldest vehicles currently in daily operation.

Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2026 and continue through 2027. The contracting authority also has the option to increase the order by an additional 100 articulated Solaris buses.

The Public Transport Authority (ZTM) in Warsaw has ordered 120 Solaris Urbino 18 articulated buses. The purchase will modernise the fleet and reduce the average age of the rolling stock, directly improving passenger comfort and safety. Deliveries will start in the second half of 2026 and continue into 2027. Under the terms of the contract, the contracting authority may extend the order with an additional 100 buses of the same specification.

The low-floor articulated buses will offer 133 passenger spaces, including 39 seats. They will be equipped with modern features, air-conditioning, and a CCTV system. Photovoltaic panels installed on the roof will help reduce the vehicle’s overall energy consumption. An additional feature already well known in Warsaw’s public transport is the so-called alcolock, a driver alcohol interlock. The device measures alcohol in exhaled air and prevents the engine from starting if the test result is positive.

Solaris Bus & Coach is a leading European manufacturer of city buses. The company focuses on developing zero-emission vehicles – electric, hydrogen, and trolleybuses. Its portfolio also includes diesel and CNG-powered buses. Since the beginning of its operations, more than 27,000 Solaris vehicles have been produced at the plant in Bolechowo. Notably, as many as 1,750 of them have been delivered to Warsaw’s public transport operators.
